POLITICAL RISK - Renewable Energy Capacity To Expand

Puerto Rico's energy regulator, Autoridad de Energía Eléctrica (AEE) has renegotiated cheaper power purchase agreements (PPAs) with six firms constructing large-scale photovoltaic plants in the country, which should help drive down power prices in the commonwealth. The renegotiated PPAs would save the AEE a total of US$60mn. The projects will also bolster the country's objective of deploying 600MW of renewable energy generation by end 2015.

Puerto Rico has a Short-Term Political Risk Rating of 6 4 . 0 .
